Scoreboard Live is a place where the people at a game put the score in, and other people who were there confirm it.

It is free. There is nothing to pay, no licence and no per-team fee. If that ever changes we will say so in advance, and nothing you have already done will become chargeable after the fact.

You need an account to use Scoreboard Live — see “Who may have an account” below for who that's open to.

Use your own name and a working email address, keep your sign-in details to yourself, and tell us if you think somebody else has got into your account.

Anything done from your account is treated as done by you, including anything done by somebody you have let use it.

Our Community Guidelines set out how scoring, correcting and adding are expected to work. They form part of these terms, so agreeing to these means agreeing to those.

The short version: score the game you are actually at, correct a score rather than argue about it, add things that really exist, and do not present yourself or anything you add as official.

You keep whatever rights you already had in anything you add. You are giving us permission to show it inside Scoreboard Live, which is the only way any of this works.

Two things follow from how the product is built, and both are worth being plain about:

• Score reports are permanent. Nothing is ever deleted, because a record people rely on cannot quietly change. So the permission to keep showing a score you reported lasts as long as that record does, including after you stop using Scoreboard Live.
• Only add a crest, badge or logo if you have the right to. Most of these belong to a school or a club rather than to the person uploading them. If you are not sure you are allowed to, do not upload it.

If a school, club, league or other rights holder tells us something of theirs is here and should not be, we will take it down. Use Contact Us and say what it is and where it is.

As far as the law allows, if somebody brings a claim against us because of something you added that you did not have the right to add, that claim is your responsibility rather than ours.

• Suspend an account. Persistent false reporting, or filling the place with entries that do not exist, can cost you access, as set out in the Community Guidelines. Where it is something you can put right, we will tell you and give you five days to do it before suspending anything, unless the problem is serious enough that it cannot wait.
• Remove or hide an entry that is not real, is a duplicate, or should not be here. This does not apply to score reports, which are never deleted.
• Change or stop Scoreboard Live.It will keep changing. If we ever shut it down we will give you at least 30 days' notice, unless the law requires otherwise.

Scoreboard Live is a community record, not an official one.

Scores are put in by whoever was at the game. We do not attend fixtures, we do not verify results, and we do not appoint or approve scorers. What we show you is where a number came from and how many people at the game are standing behind it. That is more than a score usually comes with. It is not the same as a result confirmed by a governing body.

So: do not rely on Scoreboard Live as the official result. If a decision matters, such as a league standing, a selection, a qualification or a protest, confirm it with whoever actually runs that competition. Any decision you take on what you read here is your own.

What we collect and who sees it is set out in our Privacy Notice. It is worth reading. In particular:

• Scores, fixtures and results are visible to anyone using Scoreboard Live, because a score is only useful if the people following that team can see it.
• The companies that help us run Scoreboard Live operate outside South Africa, so your information is stored and processed outside the country, under agreements requiring protection comparable to what South African law expects.

You must be 18 or older to create an account, and you should not try to create one if you are not.

Somebody under 18 may still use Scoreboard Live, through an account held by an adult, with that adult's permission and under their supervision. A child looking up their own team's result on a parent's phone is exactly what this is for. What a child may not do is hold an account of their own.

The reason is about storage rather than access. Most of the sport here is played by children, and holding as little information about young people as possible is the simplest way to look after them. It is about whose details we keep, not about who deserves to see a score.

If we find out an account holder is under 18 we will close that account. If a child has created one, tell us using Contact Us and we will deal with it.

You can stop using Scoreboard Live whenever you like. Ask us and we will close your account.

Closing an account does not remove score reports, for the reason given in “What you put in” above. Your account stops working; the record of the games stays.

We can suspend or close an account, as set out in “What we can do” above.

These terms will change as the product does. When they change materially we will tell you, by email to the address on your account or by a notice when you next open Scoreboard Live, rather than quietly swapping the page. The date at the top will be updated.

If you do not agree with a change, stop using Scoreboard Live and ask us to close your account.

These terms are governed by South African law, and the courts of South Africa have jurisdiction.

If any part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, that part is treated as though it were not here and the rest still applies.
